IN MY GRAVE

Your smile lights up flames in me,

Like the rays of a brighter day.

Or the sky of a moonlit night,

Shining across the heart of darkness.

A smile on a beautiful face

Sends flickers of hope down my spine.

And deep down the tiniest vein

It flushes out every bit of pain.

So when I fall into the arms of melancholy-

When loneliness places her cold hands on me-

I see vividly in my mind's eye,

The strings of beauteous smiles,

Encircling your spotless face,

Breaking the fetters of solitude.

For the letters I yearn to read

Are printed, but boldly in your face

And even in my sullen grave,

It's your smile I'll crave
